PRELIMINARY PROGRAM 

Departure day, Thursday 21st March

Departure from Gardermoen 21st March 2024 06.30 (KL1140), arrival Amsterdam 08.30. Departure Amsterdam 11.50 (KL565), arrival Nairobi 22.00. 

 

On arrival you are met by your safari driver guide who are waiting for you at the international arrival wing. We will drive directly to our guesthouse.

Friday 22nd March, Sightseeing in Nairobi

After breakfast, you can take a short walk on site. Here is the Norwegian school for Norwegian missionaries, and their administration.


We start this first day in Kenya with sightseeing in Nairobi. The capital of Kenya. Here the contrasts are great. Skyscrapers and modern buildings are not far from the slums. We stop for lunch at For You restaurant. After lunch we drive back to our guesthouse for relaxation. Dinner in Asmara restaurant.

Saturday 23rd March, Kitui

Today we are driving to Kitui. The distance is 150 km and takes approx. 4 hours depending on the traffic. The drive itself is an experience and will give you an insight into what daily life is like out in the countryside. We stop for lunch at Wamunyo, and to visit a woodcarving factory. Here you can see how they make their carvings, with simple tools. They are proud of their job and are always ready for a chat when it comes to guests. They make beautiful African animals.


In Kitui town we do a short stop at Talent hotel, where some of the guests will stay. From Kitui we drive to Flamingo farm in Kwa Wasya village. A distance of 13 km.


Dinner at Flamingo farm.

Sunday 24th March, Kwa Wasya Village - Be a Kamba for a day

Breakfast at Flamingo farm at 9am. 


Today we will interact with the locals and meet some of the 60 women who receive support from Help to Selfhelp in Africa to run their own small business. Kanini Woman Group who makes traditional baskets, and ladies who runs a micro-farm and sells vegetables. After lunch in Flamingo farm we will do sightseeing-by-foot in Kitui town. Dinner at Kitui Villa.

Monday 25th March, Kwa Wasya Village

Breakfast at Flamingo farm at 9am.


  • We are visiting a WaSH-project that Help to Selfhelp in Africa has completed.
  • WaSH stand for; Water, Sanitation, Hygiene

Tuesday 26th March , Kwa Wasya – Naivasha

Today we must say goodbye to our friends in Kwa Wasya. Breakfast at Flamingo farm before we start our drive up to Lake Naivasha in Rift Valley. We will have lunch at Chania falls.

Wednesday 27th March,  Full day in Lake Naivasha

Today you have a full day in Lake Naivasha. You will start before breakfast with a 1-hour guided boat trip on the lake to see hippos, birds, and other wildlife. After breakfast, you can choose to visit a rose factory. After lunch in the hotel, we relax at the swimming pool.

Thursday 28th March, Naivasha - Maasai Mara

After breakfast, we start our journey to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy the drive through wonderful scenery and landscape. We will stop for picnic-lunch Loita planes. After check-in to our lodge we will go for a 2 hours afternoon game drive at 4pm.

Friday 29th March, Full day in Maasai Mara

Maasai Mara has the largest conservation of animals in Kenya and in the northern part of the Tanzanian Serengeti National Park. We have a full day in the park and will have picnic lunch in the wilderness. In Maasai Mara National Reserve there is almost a “Big five” guarantee! In the evening, we will sit around the bonfire in our camp.

Saturday 30st March, Maasai Mara - Nairobi

After breakfast and check out we drive back to Nairobi. We will stop in Narok for our picnic lunch. We arrive in Nairobi in the early afternoon. Dinner in a restaurant in Karen area.

Sunday 31st March, Departure day

After breakfast we drive up to Kitengela Hot Glass Factory to see beautiful art. Today we must prepare for departure. Lunch at Karen Coffee garden before visiting Karen Blixen museum and Kazuri beads factory. 


Dinner and final packing in Ole Sereni Hotel.


We drive to the airport 1930. Departure time from Nairibo 23.59 (KL566).


Monday 1st April - Back in Norway

Arrival Amsterdam 07.15. Departure Amsterdam for Oslo 1430 (KL1203), arrival Oslo 1620.

The price is NOK 23 500,-  pr person. Additional charge for singel room: NOK 1500. The price is based on a group of minimum 10 participants.

  • Air travel from Oslo Airport Gardermoen to Nairobi Jumo Kenyatta International and return
